This past June, one of my best friends gave birth to a baby girl. Previously she had a son and one of her biggest complaints was not having enough kitty toys or clothing for boys. When she announced her second pregnancy, I just knew that I needed to make a gift that was cat themed so this little kitty lovey came to be! I made my version in more girlish rainbow colors, but you certainly can choose your own color scheme with this one! So if there happens to be anyone out there looking for kitty themed toys for boys, this pattern will work just as well for you too!
Materials:
-5.5mm and 4.00mm crochet hooks
-Worsted weight yarn in seven colors (I used I Love This Yarn in colors: Pink, Rosy Cheeks, Mixed Berry, Soft Pink, Light Peach, Mango, Fire Red, and Turquoise)
-Polyfill Stuffing
-Embroidery needle
Starting with Pink and 5.5mm crochet hook
Ch 39. After your last ch you will work your way back with: sc in 2nd ch from hook, skip a ch, *2sc in next ch space, skip a ch, 2sc in next ch space* and repeat until you have one remaining ch space at the end of your chain. Place a final sc into the last ch space. Ch 1 and turn. You will have a total of 38 sc when finished. We will now work in rows.
Rows 1-4: *Sc in 1st st, skip next st, 2sc in next st, skip one st, 2sc in next st*; repeat across until one st remains at the end. Place sc in last st. Ch 1 and turn. (38)
Change to Rosy Cheeks.
Rows 5-8: *Sc in 1st st, skip next st, 2sc in next st, skip one st, 2sc in next st*; repeat across until one st remains at the end. Place sc in last st. Ch 1 and turn. (38)

Rows 13-16: *Sc in 1st st, skip next st, 2sc in next st, skip one st, 2sc in next st*; repeat across until one st remains at the end. Place sc in last st. Ch 1 and turn. (38)
Change to Light Peach.
Rows 17-20: *Sc in 1st st, skip next st, 2sc in next st, skip one st, 2sc in next st*; repeat across until one st remains at the end. Place sc in last st. Ch 1 and turn. (38)
Change to Mango.
Rows 21-24: *Sc in 1st st, skip next st, 2sc in next st, skip one st, 2sc in next st*; repeat across until one st remains at the end. Place sc in last st. Ch 1 and turn. (38)
Change to Fire Red.
Rows 25-28: *Sc in 1st st, skip next st, 2sc in next st, skip one st, 2sc in next st*; repeat across until one st remains at the end. Place sc in last st. Fasten off. (38)
Now you will begin the border by attaching Turquoise where you left off. You will work your way around the entire piece.
Start with 3hdc in the first st. This will be your first corner. Work your way across the last row (the fire red row) for 36 sts. In the final st you will place another 3hdc for the corner.
Now you will work your way down the side. You will work 21 hdc down until you reach the last st. Place 3hdc into that final stitch for the next corner.
Repeat the last two side instructions for the remaining sides of the lovely.
After you have completed the first hdc border around your piece you will switch to sc and work your way around the piece placing 3sc in each corner. Fasten off and weave in your ends.
