Pumpkin Applique

September is one of my favorite months, not only because it’s my birthday month, but also because it’s the month we begin to see pumpkins everywhere! If you’re a crazy fall fanatic like myself, you cannot wait to dive into Halloween and fall decorating. A big part of that is pumpkins, of course. Over the years I’ve designed various crocheted pumpkins. Velvet pumpkins, a pumpkin doll, pumpkin hats, but this year I thought I’d keep it simple and straight to the point. A pumpkin applique. Perfect for clothing pieces, hats, scarves, you name it! And right in time for fall.

Skelly Beanie

I am loving this fall weather! It’s the perfect time to crochet and with Halloween being around the corner, my absolute favorite time to create patterns! I love everything spooky and each year I try to come up with some new fun designs. This year my kids requested new Halloween hats. In my previous post I talked about my youngest daughter’s Frankenstein Hat. This time it was my oldest daughter’s turn to pick a hat and she chose a skeleton beanie! I thought long and hard about a way to design one wanting to skip the traditional Jack Skellington style and maybe take on a more comical variety of skeleton. And here’s what I came up with!

Frankenstein Season!

Now that fall weather is FINALLY upon us, I couldn’t resist the urge to dive into more spooky creations! Each and every year, the cooler months begin my busy season for Etsy orders and craft fairs. I find myself with very little time to sit down and design patterns, which is shame because Halloween-Christmas are also the times I feel most inspired to design things! I promised myself that each and every year I’d at least make time to design one fun Halloween toy and I’ve been true to that promise for the past three years now! My first year was Peter Pumpkinhead inspired by my oldest daughter’s love of pumpkins. Last year was Witchy the Witch created entirely off of a description my youngest daughter gave to me of her favorite imaginary friend, a little magical, friendly witch. And this year? Meet Frankie Frankenstein!

The Super Soft Pumpkin

I am a sucker for Halloween. I’m that person who is obsessively scouring the store aisles in August, waiting for school supplies to vanish from the shelves and Halloween decor items to take their place. I’m yearning for pumpkin spice lattes in July, practically beating down Starbucks’s door come September when they finally roll out. Once even a hint of Halloween rolls up into town I am in constant ghoulish party mode!

Sadly though, it’s still only August and fall is a ways away. People around me are telling me to cool it and let summer live out its final days. I can’t seem to find my balance with waiting out those long, hot days when my mind is constantly playing Halloween tunes and my house is already giving off the scents of cinnamon and pumpkin though. So what to do? Well, make a pumpkin pattern, of course!  Continue reading The Super Soft Pumpkin

Peter Pumpkinhead

Halloween is drawing nearer and nearer! All of the trees are changing to vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows finally after this extra warm fall we’ve been having. The chilly days are now here and it’s the perfect time to crochet after a day out at the pumpkin patch. And what better thing to crochet than this cute little pumpkin patch inspired toy? Meet Peter Pumpkinhead 🙂  Continue reading Peter Pumpkinhead

Witchy the Crochet Witch Doll

We’re halfway through October and Halloween enthusiasm is everywhere! I love it! As I’ve said in previous posts, my family is always BIG into Halloween and I do mean BIG. So big, in fact, that my youngest daughter Iris had an imaginary friend based off of a sweet little witch her mind came up with when she was three. She called this friend “Witchy” and oh the many stories she would tell us about her! Sometimes Witchy would fly along our car as we drove, other times she’d spend the night next to her keeping all of the monsters away. Her love of that witch knew no bounds! One day she approached begging me to create a crochet version of Witchy. She described her every detail making sure to always tell me that Witchy was a “nice” witch and a “good friend”. Of course I had to come up with this sweet little witch for her and now I have it available for you to share with any little one in your life! So… Meet Witchy the Crochet Witch Doll!  Continue reading Witchy the Crochet Witch Doll

Creepy Eyeball Hat

As each day draws Halloween closer I find myself absolutely obsessed with the aisles and aisles of spooky props in all of the department stores near my home. My house is decorated top to bottom with spooky skeletons, haunted houses, pumpkins, and more! Not only must the house be dressed up, however, but people too! That’s why I created this simple beanie. It’s fully functional to keep you warm during those chilly fall days, but also has a bit of a creepy vibe to it! So without further ado… The Creepy Eyeball Hat.  Continue reading Creepy Eyeball Hat

Real Stem Pumpkins

Happy September and happy first pattern post to this blog! I’ve been thinking long and hard about what types of patterns I’d like to start posting here and decided what better month than September to start? September for my is always a favorite month, not only because it’s my birthday month, but also because in our household it kicks off the official fall/Halloween season! Fall is a great time for many reasons, but one of my absolute favorite reasons are pumpkins. Pumpkin farms, pumpkin pickin’, pumpkin lattes, pumpkin treats… You get the picture! I’ve got pumpkins on my mind! And so for this blog’s first official free pattern I opted to share with you one of my favorite things to crochet during the fall season… Real stemmed crochet pumpkins! These are super easy to make and work up very quickly! You’ll need a real stem to create these, but if you’re like me you’ve already saved last year’s pumpkin stems for crafting. If not, you’d be surprised at how many people you may know who already have some! Just ask around! So without further ado…
